On 10 September 2026, Microsoft, Dell Technologies and Microtree came together at the Microsoft Office in Kuala Lumpur for a knowledge-sharing session focused on the evolving needs of modern IT environments.
Under the theme “One Platform. Every Workload. Anywhere.”, the event brought together technology professionals to explore how businesses can modernise their infrastructure while supporting workloads across data centres, cloud, edge and more specialised environments.
Exploring Modern IT Infrastructure
As businesses continue to adopt new technologies, IT environments are becoming increasingly complex. Organisations need infrastructure that can support traditional virtual machines while also accommodating containers, Kubernetes, AI workloads and edge computing.
The session explored approaches to modern IT infrastructure and how organisations can manage different workloads through a more integrated and flexible technology environment.
VMware Modernisation and Container Management
One of the key topics discussed was the changing virtualisation landscape and the considerations involved in modernising existing VMware environments.
The discussion also covered Kubernetes, containers and microservices, including the differences between built-in and paid container management capabilities. These technologies are becoming increasingly important as organisations look for more flexible ways to develop, deploy and manage modern applications.
Live demonstrations helped attendees gain a practical view of how these technologies can be applied within enterprise IT environments.
AI Beyond the Traditional Data Centre
AI was another important focus of the session, particularly the growing need to run AI workloads in different environments.
The discussion looked at connected, disconnected and edge environments, including scenarios where systems may need to operate with limited or no internet connectivity. This is particularly relevant for organisations handling sensitive workloads or operating in environments where data, connectivity and infrastructure requirements vary.
The session also introduced Dell AX Systems and discussed how infrastructure can support modern AI and application workloads.
Microsoft Azure Local and Flexible Infrastructure
The event also explored Microsoft Azure Local, including OEM licensing, sizing and architecture considerations.
For organisations looking to modernise their infrastructure, solutions that bring cloud capabilities closer to the organisation can provide additional options for managing workloads across different environments.
The discussions highlighted the importance of considering not only technology capabilities, but also infrastructure requirements, workload characteristics and the organisation’s existing IT environment.

Beyond the technical sessions and demonstrations, the event provided an opportunity for attendees, speakers and partners to exchange ideas and discuss real-world IT challenges.
